The SaveKUTAustin Committee held three benefit concerts on November 11th, 2009, to raise funds to raise awareness about management issues at KUT. The benefit generally broke even, but because the evening was unseasonably cold and drizzly was not quite as successful as we would have expected.
A balance was still owed to the Austin Chronicle, following a generous discount, for ad space purchased. A member of the SaveKUTAustin Committee covered the cost and we wish to raise a little more money to reimburse him.
The amount to be raised is about a thousand dollars. Thanks to webhead Gary for re-posting the donation ‘button’ on the SaveKUT webpage, so that supporters can conveniently help us put this bit of business to bed.
* *Thanks to the hundreds of Austinites who generously gave to our ad hoc group to bring awareness to the community about our concerns with the management of our local Public Radio station KUT.

Management of Donations & Event Profits
Donations to save the heart and soul of KUT-FM will be used to support the immediate expenses of the SaveKUTAustin effort to educate the listening community, to stage events for providing broader understanding of the KUT programming changes, and to build support for a reversal of some of the management decisions that have impacted KUT’s music programming.
Funds will be managed by Austin Art and Music Partnership (AAMP) located at 411 W Monroe Street. Full audits of funds will be available upon request. AAMP is a nonprofit organization spearheaded by Peyton Wimmer and Aaron Williams (both formerly of the SIMS Foundation), which hosts various workshops and grants artists work and rehearsal space.
The use of any funds available from your donations or event profits, after expenses, could go to:
a) KUT’s Fall Fund Drive, subject to how the issues related to Larry Monroe & Paul Ray are addressed by management.
b) The retirement fund, subject to legal requirements, for KUT DJs who have worked at KUT for 25 years or longer.
